Fall Day Visit to the Woods

 Saturday was a really nice day. I met my friend Toni for lunch and then we took a Christmas Home Tour. More on that in a later blog. Let's enjoy Fall and all its warm colors and the celebration of the Great Pumpkin first.



It really was a beautiful day, just a slight nip in the Missouri air freshly cleaned by an over-night rain. It is still a bit early for all the change in colors to appears but you can see the start, perhaps another week and shades of red will come out of hiding.

I bet something lives in that hole in the tree, it really looks like the perfect spot to dwell.

 All of these shots were taken just outside of Toni's Little Cabin in the Woods, it is a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life here in St. Louis.

 A big pile of wood has been delivered for use this winter. Toni decided to stack it herself rather than pay the extra fee. We kind of laughed as we stood looking at the unruly logs and I was quick to note that I would not be helping in this endeavor. Toni gave the wood another glance and mentioned she might just leave it as is, but knowing her she won't. She will be out there in a week or two and all the logs will be neatly stacked in their appointed spot ready for the chilly days and nights that will be coming soon.

I love the softened look of photos taken through a screen door or window. This is real not Photo-shopped. After we spent a bit sitting and chatting and Toni pointing all the changes she had made in the cabin and more projects in the making, we decided to head back home. But fist we would stop by a newly open winery for a light dinner.

Can I not go anywhere and not be reminded of Casey. As I walked into the property I got a quick glimpse of something...

Oh no! This something had wheels... but best of all it had wind wings too. Maybe when Casey stops over for a visit he will let us know the flavor of this something.

 Next to the winery restaurant are some of the older buildings on the farm property. Here is an old fire truck parked by the Texaco building.

And in front a wagon full of pumpkins all ready for the holidays.
