A Heartfelt Thank You From the Bottom of My Heart

Not everyone will feel the way I do, but a lot of you will. I am going to miss this First Family so much. It has been wonderful watching these girls grow up in the White House. Perhaps what our country needs the most is to watch a young family grow up before our very eyes.

And the most surprising was our First Lady. Oh, my she has grown wings. From someone who was reluctant to speak publicly, she has now become an orator spectacular,  I hope she will continue to speak, for she has so much to say that needs to be heard.

The next couple of weeks will be bitter sweet. But I wish the best alway to this Obama family. You did us proud.

There are subtle nuisances to this man's presidency that not everyone will get or appreciate. But for those of us that do, I tip my cap to you, albeit it will be a Cubbies cap and not a White Sox cap.

Safe journey, Mr. President and thank you, again.

2016 the Year in Memoriam

I don't know what is it about me, but I have always been obsessed and intrigued with the year end memorials. I did have a grandfather that was a mortician and his place of business was my playground as a child. Maybe that has something to do with it.

The other is finding out about a death that may have escaped the daily reading of news here and there. Of course there are celebrity deaths, those are hard to miss. But for me the really intriguing deaths are of people, not celebrities per se, but those that made a significant contribution.

The Oscar Award show will have its flash by of those in the business that have passed. But my favorite is this year's Charlie Rose In Memoriam. He manages to pack into his sixty minute show a goodly number of people, famous and not so famous, who left us this past year.

I don't have a lot of time left, but damn I would love to make some contribution that would give me a mention on the year-end-memoriam list.
