Death scene from The Champ
When I watched this little clip, of the death scene from the 1979 movie The Champ, where a very young Ricky Schroeder as "TJ" puts on an incredible performance. Billy, the champ, played by Jon Voight, lies on the table dieing...
I couldn't help but think of "TJ" as the future generations looking up to us- the American people as we slowly die from our inaction on nuclear waste. "Wake up, wake up", comes the desperate plea -- now if we could only hear these tiny voices and act before it is too late...
Easy mark that I am, I cried pitifully during that scene. As to the issues, there's so much we need to wake up about. It's not only the spent fuel issue. It's pretty much everything else, too. That's what's scary.
