Almost like the NFL Draft but...

This Super Committee that is being selected to trim the debt had me thinking that it was a lot like the NFL Draft but without the excitement and live ESPN coverage.

Senator Harry Reid was first out of the gate with his three picks:
  • Senator Patty Murray (D-Wash)
  • Senator Max Baucus (D-Mont)
  • Senator John Kerry (D-Mass)
Senator Murray will serve as one of the two co-chairs of this committee along side, as yet, an unnamed House Republican.

We will be on pins and needles as we wait to hear the announcements that will be forthcoming from: House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.). These leaders must still choose three members each, in advance of an Aug. 16 deadline.

This "Super Committee" has been tasked with finding $1.5 trillion in savings over the next decade - Now that's what I call a Super Egg Hunt! And now the added pressure, no doubt, from recent "events" may make the task of the Super Committee an extreme super effort. I have it on very good authority that masks and capes are available to those committee members that wish them. Nice touch.

Fall will soon be in the air, ovens will be baking pumpkin loaves, caramel apples will be dipped and coated with nuts and we can sit back and watch the deft slight of hand to be performed by these Super Magicians of the Potomac.

  1. Can you imagine the harm these folks are going to do? They'll take a machete to all the things they don't like, and they'll be in heaven all the while. Finally, the axe is in their hands! It's like a horror movie.
