In Their Own Words

Mark Twain in New Hampshire 1905
New York Times Archives

"Among other common lies, we have the silent lie - the deception which one
conveys by simply keeping still and concealing the truth. Many obstinate
truth-mongers indulge in this dissipation, imagining that if they speak no
lie, they lie not at all."
~ from his essay On The Decay Of The Art of Lying by Mark Twain

 Adolph Hitler, Propagandist

"Tell a lie often enough, loud enough, and long enough and people will believe you."
 ~ Adolf Hitler

Rewriting History

I know I should resist
But we could try rewriting history

  3. Don't you love Mark Twain? I remember his response when asked why he continued to smoke and drink and ruin his health. It was something along the lines of, "Only a fool doesn't keep ballast to throw overboard." An incisive fellow and teller of truth. Good post, A.
