The Mediterranean Confluence

The Mediterranean Sea is where Europe, Africa and Asia all come together in a shared way. Little seas mixing their waters with each other and exchanging tidal flows on a daily basis. I have experienced the Mediterranean from the shores of Italy as well as from various islands of Greece, the area is one of great beauty.

It saddens me to look at the map and know that such turmoil and strife exists at this very same moment I write these words. To know that there are people just like me that try each day to go about their lives in peace. How does evil, power and corruption manage to take such a strong hold on us? Why can't good triumph over evil?

Despite thousands of years to the contrary I will continue to hope that peace will out, that someone's child, grand-child or great-grand-child will wake up in a room in any of these countries, throw open the window and look out on streets bathed in sunshine and hope instead of bullet-ridden walls.

Our work for peace must never end - the future can be a bright one.

  1. Did you see the documentary where a guy goes all over Congress trying to get even one elected official interested in pursuing world peace -- and no one is interested? Important movie, and no one even knows about it. Peace is apparently a dead issue. I don't get it. I really don't. We have the resources to help everyone living on this planet -- but instead the money goes into some rich imbecile's wallet. What a world. And no one in power speaks out against the tide. It's like a Franz Kafka book.
