The 37th Annual San Diego Crew Classic
"America's Premier Spring Regatta"

Awaiting the start - Saturday Morning

Almost there - PULL, PULL

The Finish - We win! On to the Finals on Sunday

I just got back from a great forty two hours in beautiful San Diego attending the 37th Annual San Diego Crew Classic. What made it really special was this was the first time I had the opportunity to see my grandson race in person. It was a great weekend, weather was just about perfect; warm but not hot, the racing conditions were great, no wind or water chop in the morning, almost like rowing on glass.

The team did well, winning easily on Saturday and you can see above. In the finals on Sunday OCC finished six seconds behind Stanford who placed second and ten seconds behind first place Cal, winner of this year's Derek Guelker Memorial Cup

Congratulations Team!

My Daughter in law, Julie and Grandson Oliver drove down Saturday after his Yankee team finished their game. Oliver was able to enjoy a nice swim and some football catching in the pool before we packed him off to a dinner by the sea. Remind me sometime to tell you about Larry Boy of Veggie Tales and his encounter with the Navigator Lady in Dad's car. You might have had to been there to appreciate it fully but it was funny. I will say this though, Navigator Lady not only can give driving directions, she can find lost hair brushes as well.

  1. I was in San Diego this past weekend and as we rode the skytram at Sea World on Friday, we watched the teams practicing! The weather was perfect. What fun you had, watching your grandson. Good times, indeed!
