I just bought a new non-stick fry pan today. I wanted to know if the handle was safe to put in the oven so I was reading the label that came with the pan. To my surprise I read this instead.
Caution: For safety, please keep pet birds out of the kitchen. Birds' respiratory systems are sensitive to many household fumes, including the fumes from extremely overheated non-stick pans.
Makes you kind of think twice, yikes!
I knew this because I'm a bird freak, but I'm glad you posted it. People basically have no idea it's a danger to their birds. And hey, bird people, don't turn the hot water on if your bird is flying around the house. It could easily decide to take a shower under the hot stream. I used to have two cockatiels that were always on my shoulder. But I'd never turn hot water on (or open a window) while they were out. At other times, I'd let a lukewarm stream of droplets fall from the faucet, and the birds would hop under and take a shower. One of the birds would then sit on my head with her wings extended, so they could dry. Looked like a grand hat!
